Cenote Diving in Playa del Carmen, Mexico!
Cavern and Cave Diving | What is a Cenote?
Playa
del Carmen offers more than "just" Caribbean diving - we have
another fantastic treat for you! Imagine floating in midair inside a beautiful
untouched cave, with stalactites and stalagmites all around you. The crystal
clear water of a cenote can give
you that experience. It's almost impossible to picture it or describe
it - you just have to DO it!
We also offer snorkeling tours to these natural wonders.
The dive takes you through galleries ranging from huge columns and stalactites
to very fine and intricate formations. Fossils of shells and coral are
ubiquitous. Cenote diving is a mind blowing adventure and many seasoned
divers come up to the surface speechless. Or they compare it to being
an austronaut.
The
area close to Playa del Carmen hold many of the most amazing cenotes of
the Yucatan peninsula. This is a unique experience that should not be
missed by any certified diver visiting the area. You don't need a special
certificate to dive the cavern area - Open Water is sufficient. To dive
the actual cave is a different matter, which we talk more about in Cavern
and Cave Diving.
The cenote dive you do as an Open Water Diver is always within the cavern
area, which basically means that you are always within sight of natural
daylight. The tours are led by a certified and experienced Cave Diver
with a maximum group size of four.
CENOTE DIVING IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR
DIVERS WITH CLAUSTROPHOBIA OR BUOYANCY PROBLEMS
